The site is underused, old, tired and in a poor state of repair.
It is currently used as a car park, and we think we can make much better use of the site by redeveloping it to provide new homes.
The site has direct links to key locations such as the University of Surrey and Guildford train station but the routes through it are poorly defined and unattractive. We think we can create an attractive and safe linkage between these key locations.
The site is largely made up of hard surfacing, which has limited value in terms of biodiversity. We think we can make significant improvements through a carefully considered landscape strategy.
The site is allocated for housing in the Council’s Local Plan (adopted April 2019), and the principle of development is already established through the previous consent gained in 2017.
